Use
Flowers to Direct Attention to the Couple. The
primary purpose of flowers during the ceremony is to direct
visual attention towards the front of the site where the
couple is standing. Spread your focus to the area
where the bride and groom will be standing rather than going
overboard decorating the entire ceremony site.
Check
for Decorating Restrictions Before
choosing any flowers for decorating the ceremony. Check with
the church or ceremony site to find out if there are any
restrictions or regulations on flowers and other
decorations. Many
churches will not allow open flames anywhere except at the
altar.
Before
you Choose a Florist, make
sure that she is familiar with the ceremony site. If
she is not, have her visit the site prior to your signing a
contract.
Basic
Ceremony Décor. Basically
you need some flowers near the altar and possibly on the
ends of the pews. For more elaborate and formal weddings,
you may drape flowers and ribbons down the aisle to mark the
pews and add color.
A
Candlelight Ceremony.
If you are having a candlelight ceremony, you shouldn't have
too many flowers. All you really need is some greenery such
as ivy draped over the candelabras and possibly some white
satin bows decorating the pews.
